The 2007 disc brake test gave most of the brakes a good report card. Not a single serious defect in the entire test field - we have virtually never had that before. Fading, the loss of braking power when the brakes get too hot, is of course still an issue, but the number of failures has decreased.
For the 2007 model year, some new models are also taking on the established competition, with five completely new brake systems being launched. We assessed the stability, braking power and modulation of twelve brakes with a total of 28 discs. Each brake was tested by three testers with all available disc diameters. That's almost 2000 metres of continuous braking for each disc. This is followed by the extensive laboratory test.
