Sziols has added photochromic lenses to its X-Kross range of sports eyewear. The self-tinting lenses for bike athletes are also compatible with the optical lens carrier.

The sports glasses Sziols X-Kross is suitable for various sports and weather conditions thanks to the different interchangeable lenses. The right lens is simply inserted into the frame, which is available in many colours, depending on your needs and requirements. There are lenses for runners, winter and water sports enthusiasts - and of course bikers.

Specially developed for cyclists, the lens offers good wind protection even at high speeds and remains largely fog-free throughout its service life thanks to the ventilation openings on the outer edge.

The photochromatic lenses for cyclists are a new addition to the range. The slightly mirrored, self-tinting lenses react to UV light and automatically adapt to the visibility conditions. Depending on the intensity of the UV radiation, the complete darkening process takes between 22 and 27 seconds, according to the manufacturer. It should take around twice as long for the lens to be completely brightened again.

Interesting for those with defective vision: Sziols offers a carrier clip for optical lenses, which is inserted into the X-Kross frame from the outside behind the front lens and leaves enough distance to the eyelashes and space for air circulation. Corrections of up to +/- 15 Dpt (19° tilt) are possible.

Prices and availability

The photochromatic bike discs are available now and cost 149 euros. All other bike discs are available for 49 euros each. The frames cost between 110 and 139 euros, depending on the design.

At events such as the BIKE Festival in Willingen, customers at the Sziols stand will receive the cheapest lens for free when they buy an X-Kross frame with three interchangeable lenses! The glasses can also be borrowed for a few hours for testing against a deposit.

Sebastian Brust was born in 1979 and was originally socialised on his grandmother's folding bike, but has mainly been riding studded tyres since his fifth birthday. Loves all kinds of bikes - and merging with nature. Believes that disc brakes are much safer today than they were 15 years ago and thinks he has helped with his brake and pad tests. However, the trained vehicle technology engineer very much regrets that the bicycle industry is orientating itself on what he considers to be the wrong ideals of the car industry. At BIKE, he corrects, produces and organises digital content on the website.
