Planning an entire transalp with your smartphone - five years ago, anyone who wanted to do that would have been met with a tired smile. Today, things are very different with powerful end devices, and the apps can usually do much more. In addition, the applications often combine GPS devices with the functions of a fully-fledged bike computer that offers heart rate, speed, wattage data and much more. Live tracking, offline maps or training plans are available as special treats of an app. But one thing should not be forgotten: The complex apps and powerful mobile phones drain the battery as quickly as Gérard Depardieu drains a bottle of red wine.
