Take your bike up the mountain and then continue your tour on skis: in times of warm winters, this will increasingly become the model for ski tourers. Ski tourers tend to seek out quiet mountain regions and avoid ski areas with infrastructure. As winters are getting milder this year and the snow line is moving ever higher, the bike, especially the e-bike, is a perfect alternative. Access by bike is quicker and more comfortable than on foot and more environmentally friendly than by car. What's more, by bike, and especially by e-mountain bike, you can reach areas that you would never get to by car.
The only problem: how to transport the ski equipment? Ultralight luggage expert Cyclite has developed the Ski Rack / 03, a new version of its tried and tested ski mount. Skis or split snowboards can be easily attached to the bike frame using two brackets.
CYCLITE was founded in the Bavarian Alps in 2020 to develop innovative products for all ambitious cyclists. The Cyclite Ski Rack / 03 has undoubtedly achieved this. The mount can be installed in seconds - thanks to its compatibility with top tubes up to 100 mm wide, it can now also be easily mounted on e-bikes and e-mountain bikes - without restricting freedom of movement when pedalling.
The skis are simply attached to the top tube and saddle of the bike using two brackets, and boards of all kinds: from narrow cross-country skis to wide freeriders and splitboards can be transported easily and safely. This has significant advantages over do-it-yourself methods: Skis attached vertically to the rucksack are not only uncomfortable due to the unfavourable centre of gravity, the high alignment also always carries the risk of getting caught on traffic signs or trees or getting the ends of the skis caught in the spokes. Attaching skis to the top tube with expanders or slings is time-consuming, rarely really stable and often damages the bike's paintwork.
The Ski Rack / 03 opens up new possibilities for the ski touring community. You protect the environment, are not reliant on lift infrastructure and can reach the snow line via roads and paths that are impassable for cars.
