Single test: Ortlieb Mountain X backpack
Ortlieb has been developing innovative sports bags for 30 years. What they all have in common is that they are one hundred per cent waterproof. The new Mountain X also has some useful details.

A clipped-on front pocket holds a mobile phone, wallet or bar. The main compartment can be opened in the centre with a zip, making items located further down quickly accessible. The 31 litre bag is very comfortable to carry. Only the shoulder straps could be wider. In terms of handling, however, the Mountain X was less convincing. The mega-zipper catches and is difficult to open. The buckles are also difficult to operate. At best, a straw fits through the drinking tube opening.
