With the Bike Alpin Pro, Vaude has added a new load donkey to its programme for Alpine crossers. The rucksack is a lightweight with plenty of volume.

In addition to its classic division into main, base and tool compartments, the Bike Alpin boasts a few clever details: for example, the shoulder straps can be adjusted in height so that the hip belt can be positioned exactly on the hips for a more stable fit. The so-called Aeroflex Control System allows the actual body contact back to be stretched into a mesh back, which is intended to provide better cooling on the ascent. The system also works surprisingly well in practice. Only the tensioning of the mesh is difficult to manage while riding. However, the system can be released again in one quick movement and the back system is noticeably more stable on the body during the descent.

For better ventilation uphill, the mesh on the back can be tightened using a lashing system. The clearly organised and wide-opening tool compartment conceals an additional drawer for maps. Unfortunately, unsecured items can sometimes tumble out of the flat compartment when it is opened. The developers in Tettnang have thought of almost everything in terms of equipment: In addition to the obligatory rain cover, the Bike Alpin Pro has holders for helmets and goggles as well as a separate compartment for the hydration bladder. The smartphone disappears well protected behind the main compartment and is still easily accessible even with the rain cover on.

The hip wings, which are positioned far inwards, keep the large pack sack stable on the back. The shoulder straps are also comfortable to wear, but could be a little wider with a maximum load. After a few months of use, the Bike Alpin has not only proven itself as a comfortable companion on long tours, but has also integrated perfectly into everyday family life. Whether on day trips, pump track laps or visits to the outdoor pool - snacks, a change of clothes, protectors and the first aid kit are always well organised and within easy reach in the environmentally friendly Staumeister.
