If the surfer gets too hot on the board, he simply cools down by jumping into the next wave. If sweat drips off a biker's back on the ascent because the rucksack prevents air circulation, they have a problem. The Munich-based company wants to tackle this problem with its new Transom backpack line. The Air_Condition System developed by ION adjusts the backpack backwards and upwards in the hip area as required and creates a ventilation gap between the backpack and the back. This is intended to prevent heat build-up when travelling uphill. For the descent or whenever the rucksack needs to be close to the back, the adjustment mechanism can be released and the Transom returns to the position close to the body.
As an option, the Transom can be upgraded with an SAS-Tec protector plate to provide additional protection in the event of a fall. Another exciting development is the ION V-String_Carrying_System. Two straps run downwards from between the shoulder blades in a V-shape and are designed to keep the rucksack in position even when upside down. The Transom will be available in two versions with volumes of 16 and 24 litres and offers sufficient storage space even for extended day tours: for hydration bladders up to 2 litres, tools, pump, spare tubes, rain jacket or change of shirt, protectors, bars and other provisions. Half-shell and full-face helmets can also be attached to the rucksack. If space is tight, flexible inserts on the sides provide a little extra storage space if necessary.
ION uses a very lightweight, specially coated and therefore easy-to-clean ripstop material. This and the absence of unnecessary zips should make it possible to quickly remove dirt marks on the backpack caused by the rear tyre.
