Visually appealing and functional: the Winora Radius. We particularly liked the quick seat height adjustment thanks to the Speedlifter. But other details are also impressive.

Yes, we thought the design of the new Winora Radius was a success: from the slightly tapered headset, which neatly accommodates the cables, to the seemingly seamlessly integrated pannier rack. The system carrier plate on the smooth carrier accommodates panniers and other luggage solutions.

The technically clean aluminium frame - great: the integrated trailer coupling on the rear axle - houses a Performance Line drive from Bosch, with a somewhat awkwardly removable 500 watt-hour battery in the down tube. The motor runs harmoniously as usual and works well with the five-speed Nexus in the rear wheel.

The seat position can be adjusted to any size in seconds with Speedlifter. It's even quicker to lower the saddle to a comfortable standing position at traffic lights using the handlebar lever.

The handling of the Winora Radius: relaxed, with steering as if on rails and excellent directional stability - also thanks to the long wheelbase of a full 110 centimetres. When you stop at traffic lights, all you have to do is press the handlebar lever and the saddle lowers to a comfortable height. After setting off, take the weight off briefly and you are back at pedalling height. You tend to sit upright and absolutely relaxed and enjoy the handling.

We don't like the centre stand, which barely holds the bike with 20 kilos of luggage on the rack and blocks it when manoeuvring. For 3999 euros, you get a lot for the eye and for practical use, even if some people are still missing the belt drive for a compact round bike.

Conclusion on the Winora Radius compact e-bike in the test

The Radius is a bike that is fun to look at and ride, family-friendly and, with its MIK carrier equipment and trailer mount, also easy to transport. The running culture is very precise and balanced, and the design can inspire some people anyway... - Georg Bleicher, test editor
