Trekking bikes in the endurance test: The testers take stockPhoto: Trekkingbike
The testers take stock
Eight frequent riders were allowed to make a wish at the beginning of 2008: A bike to reconcile needs and budget.

From a €2000 carbon bike to a solid city bike for the daily commute to work, everything was included. Almost a year later, the testers take stock.

A completely free choice is one of those things: the huge range of bikes on offer is confusing and finding the right bike is difficult. After a joint pre-selection with the technical editorial team and lively contact with manufacturers, eight test bikes from different categories were selected to be available to our testers for a season.

The selection starts with a mail-order cross bike. This is followed by a sporty step-through bike from Bergamont with no-stress technology, an all-rounder with a penchant for touring bikes, a balloon bike from Simplon, a rigid fork carbon bike from KTM, a 26-inch touring bike with the finest steel frame, a city racer with racing bike technology from Trenga De and, last but not least, a stylish Velo de Ville. Find out who was satisfied and who wasn't in our test report.
