The Haibike Adventr 10 SUV bike clearly shows its mountain bike pedigree. However, there is still room for improvement, especially in the components, which should increase its suitability for everyday use.

A mountain bike as a step-through model? That's surprising, but the Schweinfurt-based company realises its concept with remarkable consistency. The Haibike is clearly a sports bike and not a trekking fully with an off-road character. The riding position is somewhat front-wheel orientated, as on a modern mountain bike. This puts weight on the front and improves control and steering, but comes at the expense of touring comfort. The same applies to the wide handlebars.

The rear suspension could respond a little more sensitively to small bumps, but otherwise the chassis does a good job. Even larger obstacles in the terrain are effectively absorbed. One thing is certain: never before has there been so much mountain bike in a step-through bike. It is therefore only logical that Haibike also offers the bike as an all-trail model without mudguards and pannier rack. Incidentally, the step-through height does not quite reach the level of classic wave frames. Nevertheless, it is an advantage, especially if you suddenly have to get off the bike.

Weaknesses only in detail

The Haibike also has weaknesses, but these relate exclusively to details. The handlebars are very wide for everyday use and the riding position is borderline uncomfortable. The pannier rack twists too much when loaded and impairs riding safety. The biggest problem: The tyre clearance on the mudguards is far too small. Riding the Haibike is accompanied by the constant clattering of small stones. On our mountain tour, the struts of the mudguard even got stuck in the tread of the tyre after a few big hits. Haibike should make improvements here and add a quiet kickstand and a slightly brighter front light. Considering the equipment of the competition, this should be possible even without a price increase. On the other hand, there is unreserved praise for the great Bosch motor with Kiox display and the new giant battery for maximum range.

The MYBIKE conclusion

The Haibike is also a great low step-through E-SUV with clear references to sporty mountain bikes. It's a shame that the SUV parts - mudguards, kickstand and pannier rack - are still so underdeveloped. Otherwise, much more would have been possible with this good concept. - Barbara Merz-Weigandt, Editor-in-Chief MYBIKE
