Austrian bike manufacturer Simplon is expanding its e-bike range with two new models. With the Sengo :e, the Vorarlberg-based company is expanding the e-SUV segment, while the Cure :e has been developed as a classic e-MTB hardtail. Both bikes will be available from February 2025 and can be customised online using the Simplon configurator.
The basis for both new developments is the fifth-generation Bosch Performance Line CX. The Swabian motor delivers a maximum torque of 85 Nm and support of up to 340%. The integration of the Bosch System Controller in the top tube and the use of the Mini Remote for control give the new bikes a tidy appearance and provide intuitive operation.
According to Simplon, versatility and customisability are important in the development of both models. On the one hand, this applies to the configurator, which can be used to customise the equipment. It also applies to the freedom of choice when it comes to battery capacity.
The modular battery concept has a long tradition at Simplon. In the two new models, the main battery has a capacity of 600 Wh or 800 Wh. Both Powertube variants fit into the down tube. Optionally, a dual-battery extension can increase the total capacity to up to 1600 Wh. An external battery with 800 Wh sits in the frame triangle. This would equip you for tours of extreme lengths.
Simplon opted for a removable battery solution to enable charging independently of the charging infrastructure. The Powertube 600 or 800 can be folded forwards out of the down tube in the classic way. The specially developed battery cover has an all-round rubber lip to protect against water ingress and corrosion. The use of carbon as the frame material for both models aims to achieve an optimum balance between weight and stability - but of course this does not make the two bikes any cheaper!
The Simplon Sengo :e was designed as a versatile E-SUV and is intended to be suitable for trekking tours, commuting and light off-road terrain. The manufacturer combines modern touring geometry with a robust design. The aim is to harmonise stability, agility and riding comfort. The full equipment with lighting system, mudguards, pannier rack and kickstand helps in everyday use.
To equip the bike for the mixture of everyday riding and light off-road use, there is a 120 mm suspension fork, 2.35 inch all-terrain tyres, mudguards, a pannier rack with a load capacity of up to 18 kilograms and a modern lighting system.
Simplon offers three preconfigured models as basic equipment. The equipment, for example other battery options, can be customised in the online configurator for an additional charge.
The Cure :e presents itself as a classic E-MTB hardtail with a clear focus and functional design. The Bosch Performance Line CX drive of the fifth generation also provides the thrust here. The frame geometry with a steering angle of 66.5 degrees and an extended wheelbase is designed to ensure high stability and a smooth ride on trails, but with its rigid rear end, the bike is more at home on tame terrain. There is also a 120 mm suspension fork and wide 2.6-inch tyres, which are designed to increase comfort away from tarmac roads.
As with the Sengo, the Bosch System Controller on the Simplon Cure is positioned in the top tube, which should ensure a tidy cockpit. It is controlled via the compact Mini Remote. The low standover height of the frame should not only offer a clear aesthetic, but also enable safe mounting and dismounting. This provides a little more safety, especially in technical passages. The Cure can be optionally equipped with a lighting system or other display solutions.
The Cure is available in three equipment variants, which can also be customised according to personal preferences in the online configurator.
