The new Bosch Performance Line CX motor is currently the talk of the town. Lighter, more efficient and with almost the same performance. The new mid-motor drive is also installed in the Lapierre Overvolt 2025, which is available in different versions to meet the requirements of various terrains. We have now taken a closer look at the top-of-the-range Overvolt AM model.
The new Lapierre Overvolt AM 2025 is intended to retain its character as a playful and fun-orientated mountain bike. A mountain bike that is easy to ride - it should be the perfect all-mountain bike for any terrain. The new Bosch Performance Line CX mid-motor now ensures this. The frame has been completely redesigned and features a new, lowered damping system, among other things.
The new Overvolt AM E-MTB offers several technical innovations and improvements. The frame has been redesigned and now features new kinematics, which are based on the familiar Overvolt GLP III is inspired. The lowered positioning of the shock absorber, deflection and pivot points is intended to lower the centre of gravity and improve handling.
With a gear ratio similar to that of the Lapierre GLP III and a recommended SAG of 30%, the specially adapted Rockshox and Fox shocks should ensure efficient suspension. The rear offers 160 mm of travel, which speaks in favour of good downhill capability.
The frame of the Lapierre Overvolt is made from the previously used Supreme 5 aluminium alloy (6061), with hydroformed tubes and a new motor mount for the Bosch Performance Line CX motor. This design is intended to increase reliability, improve the rigidity of the frame and ensure precise anchoring of the motor.
A high level of integration is achieved through cables routed in the head tube, while the HMI mount is placed on the top tube for easy reading while riding.
The geometry is similar to the previous models. The bike also offers a flip chip with three positions for adapting to different wheel sizes: a full 29er set-up, the mullet set-up or completely converted to 27.5-inch wheels. These options allow riders to adapt the bike to their individual riding style.
The new Supreme 5 aluminium frame is available in three different versions, each designed for different areas of use.
The new Overvolt E-Explorer models from Lapierre are designed for daily use in the city as well as for weekend excursions into the countryside. According to Lapierre, the E-Explorer feels equally at home on tarmac, cycle paths, gravel roads or forest trails.
The e-bike should be robust, comfortable and fast - that sounds like all-rounder qualities, which should be complemented by the full equipment, consisting of mudguards and a pannier rack as well as lighting. Of course, the areas of activity hardly overlap with the previous full-suspension model, if only for reasons of suspension travel.
The Lapierre Overvolt E-Explorer series is available as a high-frame version or as a low-frame version with a low step-through as well as a full-suspension model for even more comfort on long journeys, optionally with a 600 or 800 Wh battery.
Information about equipment, prices and weight are currently not available from Lapierre.
Would you like a little "more" Lapierre Overvolt?
In our big test of the new Bosch Performance Line CX we realise: If you look at the classic key figures of the new Bosch CX motor, not much has changed. 2.85 kilos, which is only slightly less than its predecessor. And the volume is also identical - although the "new one" looks slightly different.
And the power? 600 watts at peak, 85 Newton metres, maximum 340 percent assistance. Bosch calls this the "magic triad", which had already helped its predecessor achieve a very harmonious riding experience. Speaking of the riding experience: Bosch claims to have made additional progress in the modulation and response of the motor through even better interaction between software and hardware.
