Neighbourhood rubs off: For the dedicated bikers and Quantor founders Christoph Walter and Andreas Krafft, the gearbox of their direct neighbours Pinion came at just the right time.

The innovative bottom bracket gearbox inspired the two of them to create several bike models of their own. Their credo: lightweight construction without frivolity. In addition to various MTB models, the new Erdenlauf is also designed with maximum quality right from the start: its aluminium frame, built by cult welder Nicolai, is perfectly matched to the Pinion/Gates drive with movable axle pieces and seat stay lock. A tapered head tube and thru axles increase the stability of the fork, which also offers a surprisingly comfortable ride. The 7.0 model has a choice of a 12 or 18-speed gearbox. We rode the P 1.12, which with 17.7% gear steps and 600% total gear ratio is sufficiently motorised for everyday use. It shifts smoothly and cleanly, but develops quiet noises in gears 6 to 8. The Earth drive offers an upright riding position, high manoeuvrability and precise running.
