The Cube Kathmandu Hybrid C:62 series brings a breath of fresh air to the world of e-trekking bikes. At the centre of this series are two lightweight carbon frames, which are available either as a classic diamond frame or as a comfortable step-through model. Both versions stand out with their high-quality C:62 carbon frame and an elegant full carbon fork, which is designed to impress with its high rigidity and durability.
A special feature of this model series is the lightweight and compact Bosch SX motor - which we already know from various Light-Assist E-MTBs. The SX system with Kiox display should now also set new standards in performance and user-friendliness in the e-trekking bike sector. As we have already experienced several times in our tests, the Bosch e-bike motor offers powerful yet natural support - less moped than strong tailwind.
Another highlight of the Cube Kathmandu Hybrid C:62 series - especially for commuters and everyday cyclists - is the integrated IC 3.0 pannier rack. It blends seamlessly into the frame design and gives the bike an elegant and harmonious look. At the same time, it offers space for the necessary panniers.
As a trekking e-bike, the Cube Kathmandu Hybrid C:62 impresses with its low weight, which is mainly thanks to the lightweight C:62 carbon frame and the full carbon fork. This material not only ensures high rigidity, but also makes the e-bike particularly light and easy to handle. This makes cycling even more pleasant and efficient, whether commuting in everyday life or on long leisure tours. At 16.2 kg, the lightest version is the ideal companion for anyone who values lightweight, high-performance bikes.
Equipped with the Bosch Performance Line SX, this year's model is around one kilogramme lighter than the one with the Bosch Performance Line CX drive. However, the use of a smaller motor also has an impact: With the 55 Nm of torque specified by the manufacturer, the SX model is actually 30 Nm less than the CX model. The maximum power is therefore the same for both at 600 W.
According to Cube, there is also a weight advantage of around two kilograms with the battery permanently integrated in the frame: the smaller Bosch CompactTube 400 is significantly lighter than the Bosch PowerTube 750. However, the battery installed in the model has 350 watt hours less capacity. However, with the PowerMore adapter, the integrated battery can be extended by a further 250 Wh, which offers additional flexibility and range for longer journeys.
No information was communicated on the range. You can find our test experiences with the Bosch SX drive in this article.
The top-of-the-range Kathmandu Hybrid C:62 SLT 400X combines Newmen Phase 30 carbon wheels with a 12-speed XT drivetrain and hydraulic disc brakes from Shimano. As for the slightly more affordable SLX models, both Kathmandu models are equipped with a Shimano Deore 12-speed drivetrain and robust Newmen Beskar 30 wheels.
Both versions offer 50 mm wide, grippy Schwalbe G-One Overland tyres and high-quality, lightweight Aerothan tubes. The Cube Kathmandu Hybrid C:62 also makes a good visual impression with its appealing design. The integrated pannier rack and the permanently installed battery, together with cables concealed in the frame, make for an elegant appearance.
As a trekking bike, it is also equipped with mudguards, lights and a kickstand ex works, which saves the costly retrofitting of these.
The Kathmandu Hybrid C:62 trekking e-bike from Cube is available in two versions - both with a diamond frame and a step-through frame. The first version, the SLX 400X, costs from €3999, while the SLT 400X model is available for €4799.
