The Freiburg-based bicycle manufacturer Tout Terrain presents the Appia Mixte, a new version of its tried-and-tested e-trekking bike. The model complements the existing Appia range with a version with a comfortable Mixte frame and is aimed at riders who are looking for a versatile e-bike for everyday use and occasional excursions.
At the centre of the Appia Mixte is the combination of the Pinion MGU gearbox and the Gates Carbon Drive belt drive. The low-maintenance gearbox with nine gears and 568 per cent gear range promises long-lasting function with minimal maintenance. The belt drive is said to be significantly more durable than a conventional chain and does not require regular lubrication. This drive configuration is designed to reduce maintenance requirements for frequent riders and provide the most carefree riding experience possible.
Tout Terrain has equipped the Appia Mixte with numerous features designed to increase everyday use and riding comfort. These include an integrated lighting system, pannier rack and a suspension fork, which is designed to absorb shocks on uneven roads or light gravel paths. The manufacturer emphasises the versatility of the bike: it is suitable for the daily commute to work as well as for spontaneous weekend excursions. The Mixte frame shape with low step-through is designed to enable comfortable ascent and descent and is ideal for everyday use and for people with limited mobility.
One focus of the Appia Mixte is the customisation options. Customers can customise the bike according to their personal preferences and requirements. This includes various options for components such as the saddle, handlebars or tyres, as well as the choice of additional features such as locks or GPS tracker. Tout Terrain wants to meet the different needs of its customers and offer the most customised riding experience possible.
At the heart of the electric drive is a battery with a capacity of 700 watt hours integrated into the down tube. This can be removed from the frame for charging or longer downtimes. Tout Terrain states that the battery should be sufficient for ranges of up to 100 kilometres, depending on the riding mode and route profile.
Tout Terrain offers the Appia Mixte at an entry-level price of 7,299 euros. This price may vary depending on the selected equipment and configuration. The bike will be available immediately from specialist dealers and directly from Tout Terrain.
