You can argue about taste. But we'll put forward the thesis: The stylishly integrated Bosch Powertube battery makes the KTM the only integrated bike in the test to be one of the most attractive.

But the Austrians have not only improved visually compared to last year's model. Short cranks and a higher bottom bracket prevent bottoming out on technical uphills. The Bosch motor also shows that it doesn't get any better uphill. The long chainstays do their bit - so we can attest to the Macina Kapoho's top uphill qualities this year. With its long geometry, slack head angle and potent suspension, the bike also has plenty of downhill potential. However, if you like a playful riding style, use every bump as a jump and are often out and about on very narrow trails, you will find more suitable bikes in this test field. The rather inexpensive Suntour steel suspension fork also delivers rather modest performance in comparison and weighs down the downhill grade.

Extinct species: The good old Bosch Intuvia display on the KTM is easy to read, but is very exposed and looks a bit old-fashioned. Nevertheless, there is still no adequate replacement for the thumb switch.Photo: Markus Greber Extinct species: The good old Bosch Intuvia display on the KTM is easy to read, but is very exposed and looks a bit old-fashioned. Test summary of the KTM Macchina Kapoho 274

Integrated design, colourful and functionally styled. Great uphill, suffers downhill especially from the weak steel suspension fork.
