The idea for an all-terrain cargo bike came from Berlin-based Product design office Werkdesignwhich, with the 4Forest, is pursuing the goal of an environmentally friendly means of transport for the terrain. The digital prototype has already been developed.
With full-suspension tilting technology and the powerful electric drive from Bosch, the gravel bike among the cargo bikes carries a load of up to 220 kilograms smoothly even over rough passages. Even stairs should be no problem with the 4Forest. The rear-wheel drive of the four-wheeled all-terrain vehicle runs via two belt drives, a differential and two universal joints used in go-kart construction. A Rohloff hub provides 14 gears. Luggage is stowed on sturdy pannier racks and in a removable rear box.
The robust 43-kilogram bike cannot be compared with a folding bike, but thanks to a simple frame division, retractable handlebar and easily removable wheels, the 4Forest can also be quickly stowed away in the car or stored in a space-saving manner when not in use.
With the 4Forest, the innovators are not only pursuing the goal of comfortable riding fun on rough terrain. During product development, it was also important to design a sustainable means of transport for off-road terrain. The 4Forest should be quieter and cause less damage to the ground than its highly motorised off-road colleagues with combustion engines. That makes sense, and it's certainly an eye-catcher.
