Bikes with customised frames and equipment have always been a hobbyhorse of the German bike manufacturer Bergwerk. However, production was discontinued in 2010. In 2017, the brand relaunched with five different platforms. Mountain bike professional Wolfram Kurschat was appointed Head of Marketing.
Bergwerk remains true to its concept and offers customers the opportunity to realise their wishes for individual geometries, standards and designs. The range includes an aluminium fully with 140 millimetres of suspension travel, two aluminium hardtails and two carbon hardtails. The bikes roll on 29-inch, 27.5-inch or plus-size tyres as required and can also be manufactured for Pinion transmissions. "In principle, we can fulfil our customers' every wish," says Kurschat.
The aluminium frames are manufactured in Germany, weigh around 1500 grams (hardtail) and are expected to cost around 800 euros. The carbon hardtails are laminated in tube-to-tube construction in Italy and cost less than 2500 euros with a target weight of 1100 grams.
