Focus is putting a new driving force in all its frames: The revised Impuls motor now bears the name Impuls Evo RS. It is very quiet and delivers up to 80 Newton metres of torque as a 250-watt version. All Jarifa and Thron models will use this drive from 2016. The battery still delivers an impressive 612 watt hours. We particularly like the free smartphone app, which can be used to customise a whole host of motor settings. The bike is paired via Bluetooth. The app also offers a navigation mode that shows the information from the smartphone on the display, while the phone remains safely stowed in a pocket.
The brand new hardtail is called Jarifa i29. i stands for "integrale" and refers to the fully integrated 50-cell battery in the down tube. The number 29 describes the wheel diameter. The Focus Jarifa without integrated battery will be available in 2016 with three different wheel sizes: 27.5, 27.5 Plus and 29 inches.
The fact that Focus is at the forefront of e-bike development has already been impressively demonstrated by the well thought-out solution for motor configuration via app. At 4599 euros, even the top model Thron SL 130 remains relatively affordable. Two special models for women, the Thron Donna and Thron Donna Pro for 3299 and 3599 euros respectively, round off the model range.
