The Trek Superfly 9.6 in the BIKE test
The Superfly from Trek is a solid comfort tourer with good-natured handling, which loses points due to its moderate equipment.

The price spectrum for 29er hardtails at the US giant ranges from 1000 to 7000 euros, with carbon shimmering out from under the clear coat for the first time from 1900 euros. Like the Superfly 9.8 (BIKE 1/14->), the 9.6 model also impresses with its simple, unagitated handling. However, you won't achieve great best times on this comfortable tourer. It lacks high-quality equipment and lightweight accessories. A whopping 11.85 kilos come together in the end with pedals that need to be accelerated. But the target group is more the relaxed touring biker than the highly motivated hobby racer anyway. For them, longevity and robustness are more important than haggling over grams at the expense of wear. The lack of a second bottle cage costs more points in the BIKE judgement. On the other hand, Trek marches ahead with the warranty: the carbon fibre chassis is covered for life.

ConclusionSolid comfort tourer with good-natured handling, which loses points due to its moderate equipment. The perfect frame height for everyone.

PLUS Many frame heights, great looks, lifetime guarantee
MINUS Moderate equipment, heavy wheels, high total weight
