Test 2014: Cannondale F29 6
The F29 6 is suitable for very moderate tours. Our tip: For 400 euros more, you can get a sportier bike with the F 29 5.

Our test bike marks the entry into Cannondale's famous F29 model range - it is the most affordable of the three aluminium models. Instead of a Lefty fork, a Magura TS6 damps in the front. But that is precisely the problem: the head tube is extremely long at 135 millimetres due to the Lefty dimensions. As a result, the front end is extremely high and the bike quickly starts to climb on steep climbs. The very upright riding position also means that there is a lack of pressure on the front wheel on downhill sections, making the handling feel stilted. However, the good flex values of the seatpost are a perfect match for the touring position. They offer the rider a lot of comfort when seated. The rest of the equipment with Deore gears, groupless Shimano stoppers and Schwalbe tyres in the Performance version works perfectly, but can only keep up with the strong competition to a limited extent.

ConclusionThe F29 6 is suitable for very moderate tours. Our tip: For 400 euros more, you can get a sportier bike with the F 29 5.

PLUS Lots of riding comfort, front thru axle
MINUS Front too high, heavy wheels

Due to the 135 millimetre head tube and the tapered end spacer, the front of the Cannondale F29 is far too high.
