The Austrians from Simplon are entering their second season with the Stomp. The carbon-fibre fully once again takes victory in the STW classification. The chassis is light and super-stiff and utilises the latest manufacturing technology. However, it lacks a plate to prevent chain pinch flats and a chainstay protector. Each bike is individually assembled from various equipment packages, so there is no need to praise or criticise the supplied setup - every pot has its lid. On the Stomp MR-3 supplied, only the SID fork is subject to an extra charge (40 euros), the basic equipment has already been selected for racing. The tyres score particularly well on the race track: Schwalbe's Rocket Ron with a new compound provides plenty of grip and a top time for both pros in sector four, the long downhill. Wolfram Kurschat's verdict: "A secure feeling downhill", which is also due to the wide handlebars and the powerful brakes with large discs - almost full marks. Uphill, however, both riders switched on the platform on the shock. On the one hand, the long suspension travel was irritating, on the other hand, the suspension design has a tendency to bob, as the efficiency table also shows.
CONCLUSIONS: Simplon offers a great frame and, thanks to the modular system, equipment to suit everyone's taste. The test bike shone with fast times.
