BIKE ASSESSMENT: Despite its 9.7 kilos, the brand new "Stomp" is a playground for tuning freaks, because the makers have not exhausted its potential. We are pleased with this in the practical test, because with the unchanged original suspension (lots of travel, platform shock, fork lockout on the handlebars) and the fat tyres, you can also let it run downhill without restrictions. The chassis is stiff, more stable than some of its competitors and wins the frame classification (see p. 38). It could easily be lightened by another kilo. But that was not Simplon's philosophy. The "Stomp" may not be the lightest, but it is the most suitable for all-round use in this comparison. Thumbs up!
