Yes, this frame has already won the World Cup in Albstadt. Back then, it was still camouflaged in the Erlkönig design under Nino Schurter's bum.

In our test, it wins the rating for the lightest frame. Until recently, 885 grams was a top value for racing bikes. In 2017, such lightweight carbon chassis are even suitable for off-road use. Although that would be an understatement - the Scale feels right at home on our test track. Scott goes its own way with the geometry. With super short 421 millimetre chainstays and the shortest wheelbase in the test, the Scale is playful like no other bike. The 70 millimetre short stem reinforces the direct handling. For a comfortable riding position, we fitted 20-millimetre spacers under the stem, otherwise the saddle rake would be too extreme. Despite the carbon rims, the weight of the wheelset is in the mid-range. Sensible tyres provide sufficient grip off-road. 8.99 kilos with pedals still make the Scott one of the heaviest bikes in the test. Clever: All relevant bolts have a 25mm Torx.

Conclusion: well thought-out race bike with a super-light frame and playful handling.

The alternative: The Scale RC 900 is still available for 5399 euros with Sram's new Eagle technology and good equipment.

Simon Stiebjahn: The Scott is a well thought-out race bike that leaves nothing to be desired. The Syncros components look high-quality and the small chain guide makes sense.
