At first glance, the Scale 29 in size M looks like a 26er lady bike. The look confirms those critics who only see the 29er target group as tall riders. The newly developed aluminium frame is relatively light (1663 grams), the steep angles and the low bottom bracket smell of CC geometry. However, even with the small frame size M, the front is quite high (plus a short stem), which makes for an upright, moderately sporty riding position. "Less manoeuvrable than the riding position promises, bike prefers to ride straight ahead", reads an entry in the tester's logbook. Compared to the 2010 model (1399 euros, BIKE 2/10 ->) slimmed down. This is particularly noticeable in the fork. The fitted Rock Shox Recon doesn't work as well as the Reba. The frame for 499 euros is a tip for self-assembly.
Conclusion: Scotts Scale 29 has lost some of its capabilities compared to 2010.
+ Relatively light frame
+ Affordable frame
- High front
- Moderate equipment
