CONCLUSION: not the lightest and not the most luxurious bike, but in terms of handling right at the front. The "Scale" defends its 2007 test victory.

With 132 points, the 2007 Scale "Limited" won the comparison test (BIKE 6/07). In this test, the "Scale 10" has to defend its title against newcomers. The tube-to-tube frame with its useful details (chainsuck plate, closed cables, quick-release saddle clamp) has not changed, but the equipment has. The "Scale 10" has adopted the Shimano "XTR" equipment from the "Limited" model of the 2007 season, weighs similarly little, but costs 1,000 euros less than the top model of the last season. The 2008 "Limited", on the other hand, has moved further up and is said to have lost over a kilo (8.5 kilos) through equipment tuning. But let's get back to the "Scale 10": After a number of rivals snuck past the Scott stalwart with new bests in the test lab, we were curious to see how the classic would fare on the trail against the strong competition. Scott has swapped the house brand tyres for Schwalbe's "Racing Ralph" in 2.25 inches, which is already an advantage. The fork with 100 millimetres of travel as well. In the test letter, the riders wrote: "Best balance of stiffness and riding comfort", "top riding position, super power transfer", "high limit range, controllable at all times". As a result, the "Scale" scored full points for handling and once again took the overall victory in terms of overall characteristics.

CONCLUSIONThe "Scale" is not the lightest and not the most luxurious bike, but it is right at the front in terms of handling. The "Scale" defends its test victory from 2007.

TUNING TIP: Fit lighter quick-release skewers (standard: Shimano "XT").
