A guarantee that only the lightest and finest parts are fitted to the highly modular carbon frame. A mix of Sram XX1 and Shimano XTR paired with Syncros 29-inch carbon wheels adorn the frame, which weighs just 1100 g in size L. Surprisingly, despite the thick 34.9 mm Syncros carbon seatpost, the Scale offers just as much flex as other frames with a thin 27.2 mm seatpost, which gives the bike a certain level of comfort.
On the trail, it quickly becomes clear that the components used are not only easy on the wallet, but also functionally convincing. The mix of parts forms a homogeneous and highly efficient overall system with the frame. The geometry is pleasing. The handling is intuitive and balanced, while the 29-inch wheels convey safety and confidence in every situation. For short intermediate sprints and longer climbs, the RideLoc system offers the right mode on the Fox CTD fork and can be easily operated from the handlebars. This guarantees efficiency and full control when it counts. However, there are still points of criticism. The narrow Schwalbe Thunder Burt tyres with their minimalist tread pattern may put you in a good mood on the scales, but they are quickly overwhelmed off-road and offer hardly any reserves.
As high-quality and performance-orientated as the bike is built, its appearance is pleasantly understated. The Scale 900 SL is definitely not a bike for a grand entrance in front of the ice cream parlour, but it is certainly one of the fastest race bikes on the market. True to the slogan: reduced to the max!
Conclusion The Scott Scale combines visual understatement with performance that is beyond reproach. A real dream race bike.
