Canyon has updated its Exceed CF SLX with new paintwork released: This is ridden by the top performer of the Canyon CLLCTV XCO team, Thomas Griot, but should also be worth an investment for the private user. Griot has competed in several XC World Cups with the race hardtail this year and achieved 7th place on the course in Leogang, which is generally considered to be very climbing-heavy.
The Exceed is a really impressive bike. Its lightness and stiffness gave me a huge advantage in Leogang. The course there is really tough because there are so many climbing sections. So the race with the Exceed was a great experience. But I was also surprised by the performance and comfort on the descents. It's not what I expected from a hardtail, and then it's just so fast on the climbs. - Thomas Griot
The recently released Rockshox SID SL Ultimate 100 mm suspension fork is designed to provide control even in demanding situations. The 69-degree steering angle is classic for a hardtail with this suspension travel and gives the bike agility. An update to the current model is the drivetrain: the Sram XX Eagle AXS in the (fairly) new transmission version and Sram XX DUB carbon cranks.
Unlike the Canyon Exceed CF SLX version, the new hardtail comes with a DT Swiss XRC1200 wheelset, taking a few more grams off the bike. The Maxxis Ikon tyres have already impressed us with their good traction in other tests. The reach of the Exceed CLLCTV varies between a long 392 and 475 mm, depending on the frame size.
The limited edition is dedicated to multiple world champion Mathieu van der Poel. However, it differs from the CLLCTV model with the Fox 32 SC Factory fork, which is also fitted to the classic Canyon Exceed CF SLX. In addition, the drivetrain in this version is provided by Shimano with a non-sparking XTR. In terms of price, the models therefore differ relatively significantly: while the Canyon Exceed CF SLX CLLCTV is available for € 5999, the Limited Edition is available for € 4999.
