Light, elegant, fast. This is how the Radon Jealous 10.0 EA presents itself. How does the carbon hardtail fare in a price-performance comparison?

Even at first glance, it is clear that the Radon Jealous 10.0 EA offers plenty of performance: The cross-country hardtail is equipped to the maximum. But does the price match? We took the 8.9-kilo race bike for a spin on the test track and took a look behind the facade of the shiny equipment.

It's a good thing that current discounts have reduced the price of the Radon Jealous 10.0 EA from € 6499 to € 5299, because the bill isn't exactly small for a mail order bike. On the other hand, everything from the Fox Factory fork to the Newmen carbon wheels is installed, which costs real money. Other manufacturers only install a Sram xx1 Eagle AXS wireless drivetrain on significantly more expensive bikes and the rest of the equipment is also top of the range. Weighing less than nine kilos, the Radon Jealous 10.0 EA is predestined for fast lap times. The BIKE test shows whether the lightweight construction concept works.

The Radon Jealous 10.0 EA on test: How the carbon hardtail rides

The top-quality equipment of the Radon Jealous 10.0 EA with ergonomic brake levers and wireless shifting is fun from the very first metre. Narrow tyres, the rigid carbon seatpost and smooth foam grips are a tribute to racing use and reduce the weight to a dream value of less than nine kilos. Uphill, the Radon is very responsive. Light-footed and as fast as an arrow, racers shoot towards the summit on the Jealous. The suspension fork can be tightened from the handlebars via a remote, so that every watt can be converted into propulsion when pedalling. The riding position is sporty, but not too stretched out due to the conservative top tube length.

The Radon Jealous 10.0 EA: A bike for skilled racers

The fact that Radon has designed the bike as an uncompromising piece of sports equipmentThis also quickly becomes clear on the descent. The race ambitions of the hardtail require a sure hand on the handlebars. The lightweight bike is thrown from side to side over roots and rocks. The rigid rear suspension provides little comfort and transmits many impacts to the rider. Good nerves are also required on the Radon Jealous at high speeds. Due to the short wheelbase, it is less stable than many of the other current cross-country hardtails on the trail. At 70.1 degrees, the steering angle is of the steeper variety and quickly puts the rider in their place on demanding trails. On the other hand, the Jealous implements steering movements very directly and goes quickly through tight spots.

Conclusion on the test of the Radon Jealous 10.0 EA

The Radon Jealous is a pure old-school race hardtail. Light and stiff, it is a racer's favourite on easy trails. But downhill riders need to know what they are doing, because trails quickly become a technical challenge. Despite its luxury features, the Jealous just misses out on the dream rating of Super. - Peter Nilges, BIKE Test Manager

²The BIKE judgement reflects the laboratory measurements and the subjective impression of the test riders. The BIKE judgement is independent of price. BIKE judgements: super (250-205 P.), very good (204.75-180 P.), good (179.75-155 P.), satisfactory (154.75-130 P.), with weaknesses (129.75-105 P.), unsatisfactory (104.75-0 P.). The weighting of the points in the individual assessment criteria varies depending on the bike category.
