For the test bike, the Westerwald-based company didn't lean too far out of the colour window, even though their colour configurator allows for the most garish design wishes. However, we were surprised by the agile, playful impression that the stiff bike (STW value 64.1) made on the winding trails of our test ride, despite the narrow handlebars. With solid SLX equipment, the bike is in a good midfield position in the configurator. The hand-spoked wheels with XT hubs guarantee long-term fun. The TPR 29 is easy to pedal uphill thanks to its compact riding position. When things get really bumpy downhill, the grip bonus and better damping of the Evolution tyre compound help. Too bad: little space between the derailleur/tyres becomes a problem in mud.
PLUS Good brakes, balanced geometry, hand-spoked wheels
MINUS Little space between front derailleur and tyre, narrow handlebars
Tuning tip Fit wider handlebars + chainstay protector
ConclusionAgile driving pleasure guarantor with plenty of scope for configuration
