Niner is fully committed to the trend of large 29er wheels. The name says it all, the product range only includes 29er bikes. The carbon hardtail Niner Air 9 RDO has now been given a newly revised frame.
Thanks to the Boost standard, the chainstays of the new Air 9 RDO have been shortened. The reason for this is that the chainline has been moved outwards, creating more space between the front derailleur/chain and tyre, especially in the bottom bracket area, so that the rear tyre can be pulled closer to the bottom bracket.
In the new design, particular emphasis was placed on the comfort of the frame. The 31.6 millimetre thick seat post therefore gave way to one with a diameter of 27.2 millimetres. The seat stays have also been made slightly thinner. The seat stays and seat post flex more and therefore offer more of the desired comfort. The cables are routed inside the frame with a continuous outer sheath in order to increase the maintenance intervals and ensure proper function in muddy conditions.
According to the manufacturer, the frame weighs 1050 grams (size M). Fans of single drivetrains can enjoy the clean look without a front derailleur mount. Riders of conventional double drivetrains can screw the front derailleur to the seat tube with a clamp.
The new Niner Air 9 RDO with the new carbon frame will be available in Europe at the end of June. The frame kit will cost around 1800 euros and complete bikes will be available in six different configurations.
