With the Fastforward, Last makes no compromises. The deep black steel steed with its 64 mm steering angle - not even enduro fullys are that slack - literally craves fast descents.

Even on the steepest terrain, the Last runs smoothly and offers reserves even at high speeds. The grippy tyres guide the bike through fast bends as if on rails. However, the radii should not be too tight. The long wheelbase and the not too short chainstays require the rider to exert some pressure. But then the load is readily transferred to the rear wheel. Riding uphill on the Fastforward is rather comfortable. The grippy tyres hardly tempt you to sprint, and the comfortable, rather compact riding position encourages you to relax - you get your dose of adrenaline on the downhill. How Last manages to conjure up such harmonious equipment on the bike remains a mystery to us: top fork, lightweight system wheels, powerful brakes with large discs, a Reverb with 170 millimetres of travel and the brand new remote lever. As already mentioned, no compromises.

Conclusion: potent trail bike with downhill genes and outstanding equipment.

PLUS Comfortable frame; suitable for Plus or 29 wheels; adjustable chainstays, single speed also possible; high-quality equipment; confident downhill rider
MINUS Heavy frame

The alternative: Last offers 165 possible combinations online. For 3098 euros, you can get the Fastforward with comfortable Plus tyres and durable XT 2x11 equipment.

Stefan Frey is from Lower Bavaria and loves the mossy, loamy trails of the Bavarian Forest as much as the rugged rock of the Dolomites. For technical descents, he is prepared to tackle almost any ascent - under his own steam. As an accessories specialist, he is the first port of call for questions about equipment and add-on parts, while as head of copywriting he sweeps the language crumbs from the pages of the BIKE print editions.
