Seven high-quality carbon bikes, from track bikes to e-MTBs, all made in Italy and equipped with customised geometry: On the Eurobike trade fair in Friedrichshafen Cybro presented its new bikes to the public for the first time. The newcomer to the bike market was founded by Italian Alessandro Graser during the pandemic. The 48-year-old has a background in goldsmithing, previously made bicycle cranks and now specialises in high-end bikes in Bassano del Grappa, with frames made to measure in Italy. For him, bikes are more a work of art than a means of transport. Six of the seven Cybro-models also rely on a belt drive. We took a closer look at the trail hardtail, the N6 model.
Unlike most current bikes, the N6 uses small 27.5-inch wheels. The 2.4 inch wide WTB tyres sit on their own carbon rims with a 32 millimetre rim width. The head tube houses an Edge upside-down fork from Intend with a full 180 millimetres of travel. The top tube is low in order to realise a lot of standover height and so that you can ride Vario seat posts with a lot of travel. The OneUp dropper post as standard provides up to 210 millimetres of drop. The geometry can be customised on request. You can expect a delivery time of around 2-3 months from order to delivery.
The centrepiece of Cybro's trail hardtail is the Pinion C12 gearbox, which the Italians combine with two Cinq shifters instead of the classic Pinion twist shifter. The drive runs via a Gates Carbon Drive belt. Cybro has designed and patented the "Belt Pass" so that the belt can be threaded into the rear triangle as easily and stylishly as possible. The special axle mount for carbon frames requires no additional openings on the frame and is smoothly integrated into the dropouts. The Italians also received the Eurobike Award for this detail. The system, which sits in the axle, is said to guarantee greater stiffness of the rear triangle, as the chainstay and seat stay do not have to be weakened to thread the belt. The award jury's statement was: "A purist detail that inspires: the Cybro Belt Pass is an axle mount for carbon frames. It allows robust thru axles to be combined with maintenance-free belt drives. It has a no-frills design and is technically and aesthetically superb."
However, the custom carbon frames manufactured in Italy also have their price. Cybro charges at least 7420 euros for the N6 trail hardtail.
