500 euros is considered the lower limit for a serious mountain bike. How suitable are these bikes for off-road riding? Eight inexpensive MTB hardtails in a comparison test.
Even for a 5000 euro bike, a "super" in the BIKE test is difficult to achieve. How well do hardtails for 500 euros perform? Eight bikes tackle this question. They include such illustrious names as Marin, Focus and Univega. Bergamont, Hai and Trenga De also stand for high-quality bikes. Newcomer Carver and the 2Danger from mail order company B.O.C. are not to be outdone here and complete the test field. The low-cost bikes were not spared. They had to meet the same strict test criteria that apply to the high-end bikes.
