The cheapest bike in the test group is best suited for touring and marathon use.

4499 euros - the entry level in this test group. Haibike has not chosen the unattainable top model like the other companies, but shows what is possible with a few thousand euros less. What is possible is a very light chassis (less than two kilos with shock). However, it is not possible to splash out on luxury for this money. SRAM XO has to suffice where others serve XX. In return, there are carbon rims and a triple crankset that is more compatible with the masses. The harmony of the suspension is not perfect. The rear has a lot of travel and could do with more progression, the fork has too much of it. As a result, the rear end rushes through its travel (which helps on high terrain), the fork feels stubborn and may need more time to break in. But that's complaining on a high level.

Even if racers like double cranks, triple cranks still make sense for many.Photo: Daniel Simon Even if racers like double cranks, triple cranks still make sense for many. The suspension characteristics speak for themselves: no trace of harmony. The Magura fork doesn't match the flat profile of the rear end, which has plenty of travel. At the beginning, the rear end dives a lot, then the fork goes into a strong progression and does not utilise the travel. Ergo: There is a lack of fine tuning.Photo: BIKE Magazin The suspension characteristics speak for themselves: no trace of harmony.
