Behind the black and white costume of the Haibike lies a solid entry-level hardtail with a comfortable riding position and balanced handling. At 12.5 kilos, the bike is only mid-range, mainly due to the heavy Recon fork (2141 g). Once this mass is rolling, the Haibike fights its way up nasty ramps and manoeuvres through every berm in a controlled manner. The cockpit gives you a lot of control over the front wheel. The successful geometry also plays a part in this, the riding position is pleasing and the handlebars are pleasantly wide. Even our 90-kilo rider didn't complain about the lack of braking power of the affordable Tektro brakes. In terms of equipment, the Haibike lags behind the competition. You have to do without an XT rear derailleur or Evolution tyre compound. However, the Shimano SLX-Deore mix with groupless Octalink cranks works well and shifts reliably.
ConclusionThe harmonious riding position and the balanced handling make the Haibike Edition a feel-good bike despite its meagre equipment.
PLUS Balanced seating position, good handling
MINUS Heavy fork, weak equipment
