"The look is porn" is one comment in the test letters on the GT. No question, if you want to stand out, this is the right bike for you. If you're aiming for World Cup victories, you're wrong. The Zaskar 100 is the trail fun bike with playful riding characteristics among the emaciated race files - a child of the US riding style. Despite the rather firm suspension, it rides like a board on the downhill (long wheelbase, angle, stem length), but is rather comfortable on the uphill, if you can say that about a 10.4-kilo bike. The rear suspension works a lot on the climbs, while the fork works less on the descents (typical SID). GT compensates for the long top tube with a short stem. The Zaskar would be ideal for marathons - if it weren't for the impossible bottle cage position under the top tube.
ConclusionCool looks, cool riding characteristics, exceptional equipment. However, the Zaskar is less at home in racing than on sporty tours.
