Young Hero, WMN and unisex: Canyon is relaunching the best-selling Grand Canyon in numerous variants. The slightly revised aluminium hardtail is now available. Prices start at 599 euros.

Hardtails are not only regarded as beginner and absolutely carefree bikes, they are also a lot of fun in winter and on flatter trails and - according to an old mountain bike mantra - they train riding technique and line choice. They also impress with their usually unbeatable price/performance ratio.

The fact that the Grand Canyon is the best-selling mountain bike in the Canyon, the bike mail order company is not surprising. After all, the aluminium hardtail in its numerous variants and with prices starting from 599 euros MTB beginners and advanced riders alike - regardless of gender or age. Thanks to the
lighter "AL SL" frame introduced last year
up to sporty 120 mm hardtails with telescopic seatpost and weighing less than 12 kilos.

Well, for the very youngest bike fans up to around ten years of age, the kids' bikes are still available. Offspring and the Grand Canyon AL 24 to choose from. However, from a height of around 140 centimetres, the "Young Hero" model is the first step into the MTB world of "big" 27.5-inch wheels.

Two wheel sizes, two frame qualities and frame sizes from 2XS to XL

The revised Grand Canyon family comprises a total of ten model variants. The Grand Canyon Young Hero, Grand Canyon 5 and Grand Canyon 6 are based on the tried and tested "AL" frame, while the lighter "AL SL" frame is used from Grand Canyon 7 onwards, and the dropper seatpost comes as standard.

Models 5, 6, 7 and 8 are also available as unisex and WMN versions. Canyon emphasises that the women's bikes have not only been equipped with an adapted cockpit and special saddle, but are also designed to provide even more trail fun for female bikers with their own frame geometry.

How do you like this article?

All ten new versions from the 2021 model year rely exclusively on single-speed drivetrains and have been designed entirely without derailleur mounts. Customers can choose from various Shimano and Sram options. With the exception of the Grand Canyon Young Hero (1x11), all bikes come with 1x12 drivetrains, including the new Deore groupset from Shimano. Grand Canyon riders of the Young Hero, 5 and 6 models get 100 millimetres of travel at the front, from the Grand Canyon 7 model onwards the buffer increases to 120 millimetres.

The new Grand Canyon Young Hero with 27.5-inch wheels is available in the two sizes 2XS and XS and the WMN models in the four sizes 2XS, XS, S and M, while the unisex versions are available in the five sizes XS, S, M, L and XL. The bikes in frame sizes 2XS-S will continue to be supplied exclusively with 27.5-inch wheels. All frame sizes above this roll on large Twentyniner wheels. And the best for last: The new Grand Canyon for the 2021 model year is now available to order at canyon.com are available - at prices between 599 and 1799 euros.
