26 complements 29 inches - Ghost is consistently pursuing a two-pronged approach in the affordable hardtail segment. In the lab, however, the aluminium 29er struggled to keep up with the competition.

A total weight of 13.95 kilos (2.2 kg frame, 2.1 kg fork) sets the good-natured 29er back, especially on the climbs. However, the riding impression is much better than the bare figures. The low, centred riding position welcomes the rider comfortably and offers a lot of security as soon as things get technical. With the wide 720 mm handlebars and the smooth geometry, you can hit your target line with almost millimetre precision. The fork and brakes do their job inconspicuously. The frame scores additional points with sensible details such as tidy cable routing, up-to-date installation standards and luggage rack eyelets.

ConclusionSmooth-running touring 29er that suits beginners with its secure handling. Unfortunately a little heavy.

PLUS Good-natured handling, very smooth running, wide cockpit
MINUS Heaviest bike in the test, heaviest frame, cheap tyres
