The single-arm fork from Cannondale is light and stiff. The Lefty is therefore very popular with racers. Its high price and unusual appearance also increase the exclusivity factor. Although the Lefty can be installed in almost any frame with the "Lefty4all" adapter, the Ismaning-based titanium forge Falkenjagd now offers all mountain bike models in the RS series with frames specially optimised for the Lefty ex works.
The main difference to the standard frame is the solid head tube, which accommodates the large Cannondale bearings for the Lefty fork. Together with the matching stem unit, this creates a visually very harmonious overall appearance that does not require external bearing shells or additional spacers. Another new feature is that the down tube can run straight compared to the standard version. This not only saves a further 50 grams compared to the curved standard version, but together with the thicker head tube also increases the head tube stiffness.
The geometry of the Teleon RS 650B in the Cannondale Team Edition shown in the photos has been slightly adapted: A slightly steeper seat angle of 74° allows the centre of gravity to move further forward, giving the rider more pressure on the pedals. Otherwise, the characteristics of the frame made from 3/2.5 titanium tubes correspond to the standard model (more info here). The new team paint sets the colour tone. The team frame is first completely sandblasted (resulting in a slightly darker surface) and then "refined" with the new paint.
Before a Lefty complete bike is delivered, the fork is also overhauled by the tuning professionals "Eighty Aid", who specialise in the Headshock system. The negative spring, air volume, air pressure, oil viscosity and shim configuration are optimised for the customer's weight, area of use and riding style. Individual labelling of the inner workings and the "88" sticker, which is visible to everyone, identify the pimped fork.
The "Teleon RS" 650B frame kit in the Cannondale version incl. Syntace X-12 thru-axle system costs 2,690 euros and therefore does not cost any more than the conventional frames. According to the manufacturer, the frame weight incl. thru-axle axle is reduced to approx. 1,600 grams in size L. The new team paint finish is available as an option for all RS models at an additional cost of 590 euros.
The complete bike shown in the photos with Sram XX Gripshift gears, Brake Force One brakes, Lefty fork, Olympic Gold LRS and seat post, saddle and crank from Tune weighs just 8.7 kilograms (manufacturer's specification). The price of the complete bike with this race equipment is 6,540 euros.
