Anyone who buys a titanium bike is taking a stand against the modern throwaway society. Titanium is extremely durable and scores better than any other frame material when it comes to individuality and sustainability. Fans appreciate the positive damping properties and low weight of this precious material. A titanium bike will not be disposed of at some point, but passed on to children or even grandchildren.
Frequent riders and low-maintenance riders who can cope with the extra weight on the bike and are not afraid of the high purchase costs are likely to be interested in the Pinion gear system. The 18 wide-spread gears packed into a high-quality sealed housing could become a real alternative to conventional derailleur gears.
Falkenjagd therefore now also offers its titanium frames in an optional Pinion version. The already stiff Falkenjagd frame for the PI series (PI stands for Pinion) has been redesigned for this purpose. For example, the more tapered top tube in the headset area is designed to provide even more rigidity.
The most striking features of the frame at a glance:
- custom-made 3AL/3.5V titanium grade 9 tube set, drawn according to Falkenjagd specifications
- Titanium Pinion frame bridge CNC milled
- Frame approved for up to 165 kilograms
- Modern PM 160 rear brake mount
- 142 x 12 millimetre rear thru axle
- Inset 44 head tube, also designed for riding with panniers at the front
- Adapted 650B frame geometry, optionally convertible to 26" wheel size
- Internally routed light cable in the frame on request
- Integrated stand holder on request
- Four eyelets integrated in the dropout for pannier rack and mudguards
- Designed for 3 bottle cages
The frame will be available from Eurobike 2013 and will cost 3998 euros with gearbox. Complete bikes will be available from around 6500 euros.
