Entry-level hardtail from Carver
New launch: The Carver Strict e.01 is a hardtail designed to appeal to beginners with its simple equipment and low price. No savings have been made on the motor: the Bosch CX is used.

Solid MTB hardtails generally start at 800 euros, which is what the BIKE test of budget hardtails shown. If you want an e-mountainbike, you have to fork out considerably more. E-MTBs under 2000 euros are rare. At 2100 euros, just above this sound barrier: the new Carver Strict e.01. With its simple equipment, it is aimed more at beginners than advanced bikers. The geometry points the way towards roads and easy forest tracks rather than tough off-road use.

However, Carver doesn't skimp on the motor: the tried-and-tested Bosch Performance CX motor provides plenty of propulsion. However, the euphoria is somewhat dampened by the small 400 Wh battery. The aluminium hardtail is mounted on 29er wheels, which should roll very well in combination with the Schwalbe tyres fitted. At the front, an SR Suntour fork with 100 millimetres of suspension travel damps the bike, while the add-on parts come from Carver. The gears and brakes are Shimano components.

Carver goes all out with the motor, but unfortunately not with the battery: the 400 Wh battery significantly limits the range of the Bosch Performance CX motor.Photo: Hersteller Carver goes all out with the motor, but unfortunately not with the battery: the 400 Wh battery significantly limits the range of the Bosch Performance CX motor.
