Dirt bikes are real skill boosters: bunny hops, manuals, jumping. You learn these skills better on a dirt bike and can then transfer them to off-road mountain biking. Look at the pros, most of them have a dirt bike past. A nice side effect: dirt bikes are relatively cheaper and easier to maintain. There are now a number of pump tracks where you can let off steam. In short: I wouldn't want to do without my dirt bike. Make sure you buy the right size, it shouldn't be heavier than 13 kilos.

No, a dirt bike is not a must-have, but a nice-to-have. Because for me, mountain biking means being out in nature - in other words, off-road. That's why I want a fully, because the fun factor is much higher. A fully has reserves for botched stunts and a wide range of use. Then there's the time factor. I don't know about you, but I have around ten hours a week for biking. I have a downhill bike, enduro bike, e-mountain bike, racing bike and even a dirt bike in my garage. The dirt bike is the one I would most likely do without, because I can't do everything.
