BIKE ASSESSMENT: The 2008 carbon model was not yet ready for testing, so Cube proves with its "AMS 100" that aluminium frames are far from being old hat. The chassis shines with 100 millimetres of suspension travel, two bottle cage positions and even has a quick-release saddle. Cube achieves its weight through tuning measures that anyone can carry out: Wheels, quick release, saddle and cockpit. The frame is stiff and the entire bike is absolutely suitable for everyday use, provided you at least fit a front tyre with better grip. There is only one detail that is missing off-road: the fitted DT carbon shock does not have the practical platform damping of the standard Fox "RP23".
All-round value/suitability for everyday use²: fully suitable, except for the tyres.
