Chisel: new aluminium hardtail from Specialized
With the Chisel, Specialized is launching two new aluminium hardtails under 2000 euros. The Chisel bikes are intended to replace the aluminium version of the Epic HT and follow on from the Rockhopper models.

Two new aluminium hardtails each for men and women will be rolling into Specialized shops from the summer. In the Specialised Chisel (translated as chisel) is a lot of know-how from the Epic HT presented in autumn 2016 especially with regard to the geometry. The two Chisel models (Expert and Comp) will replace the Epic HT in aluminium, which costs 1599 euros. For the hydroformed frame, Specialized has copied the "D'Aluisio Smartweld" technology from the road bike sector. The simple frames use less material, are supposed to be stiffer and are characterised by smooth tube transitions and better comfort values. The Chisel frame with internal cable routing weighs 1350 grams, the two models cost 1500 and 1800 euros.

As a buyer of the Chisel Expert (1799 euros), you have the choice of riding a 2x drivetrain with Shimano XT/SLX mix or 1x11 gears from Sram. The cheaper Comp model of the Chisel is only available with 2x10 Deore gears. The Chisel will be available in four frame heights, S to XL.
