Anyone who spends 2500 euros on a hardtail already belongs to the group of ambitious bikers. According to our annual reader survey, the average willingness to spend on a hardtail is 2100 euros. Anyone who spends more than this usually knows what they want to do with their bike and what it should be able to do.
The frame material is a key issue for hardtails. While the first carbon frames can be found from most manufacturers from around 1700 euros, the lightweight but also expensive carbon already dominates at a price of 2500. But be careful: once the manufacturing costs have been invested in the expensive carbon frame, there is little budget left for the equipment. Especially the carbon hardtails under 2000 euros often weigh more than an aluminium model with better components due to the poorer parts. However, the tide turns with our two opponents from Bulls and Mondraker. Despite the carbon frames, decent overall packages are already being put together for 2500 euros, which outweigh most aluminium models in a similar price range.
