The lightest bike in the test field also has the most off-road capabilities. A decent overall package for the money.

The focus of the Yellowstone is on the frame. It is impeccably finished and has nice details (e.g. quick-release saddle clamp). The Rock Shox Dart deserves to be called a suspension fork (with adjustable damping!) and the V-brakes also work well. However, the XT rear derailleur is a classic dazzler in the midst of Shimano Alivio parts. The sprocket set with its mega-range gear ratio jump from 26 to 34 teeth is not at all to the liking of trained legs. On the test ride, the Canyon is one of the sportiest models, definitely suitable for off-road riding.

CONCLUSIONThe lightest bike in the test field also has the most off-road capabilities. A decent overall package for the money.

TUNING TIPReplace pinion set.
