Canyon Lux MR 9.0 (endurance test)
Biking in the service of truth. In this instalment, our long-term testers reveal what their bikes are capable of in everyday use. This time: Canyon Lux MR9.0

I am one of those people who call fullys the work of the devil. And, yes father, I have still sinned and committed an offence with the Lux. Here's my confession: I chose the Lux because of its incorruptible key data: 10.4 kilos and 100 millimetres of travel front and rear. The perfect bike for many situations. After the first few metres on the home circuit, it quickly became clear that the plastic bike climbs perfectly, turns corners with agility and immediately converts every acceleration into propulsion. Although the firm suspension only absorbed larger bumps, it never reached its limits.

The remote lever for the suspension fork was a little annoying, as it was extremely difficult to operate. To tame the Lux from the stretched race position, I fitted a riser bar, which transformed the bike into a long-distance weapon. I quickly took the Furious Fred tyres off after the first four flats and replaced them with Maxxis Ardent tyres.

I had problems with the Formula Oro Puro brakes right from the start. The brake lever retaining pins became loose and fell out. This production defect was replaced. Nevertheless, I was never satisfied with the braking performance. Even readjustment and new pads didn't help.

The emaciated carbon frame turned out to be a sensitive little thing. One small fall was enough to destroy the frame. The thin layer of paint burst off and destroyed some of the fibre layers. I was surprised by the drive, which survived even rough abuse and neglect unimpressed. After over 4000 kilometres, the chain was still rattling cleanly over the chainrings, even though the XT cranks were showing heavy wear.

How do you like this article?

Overall, the Lux is a racy bike with a sensitive frame. However, it is the first choice for competition.

Change:

- Coats swapped: Maxxis Ardent / The Furios Fred was a disc finder

- Stem - Truvativ handlebars / The Syntace combination was extremely stretched

*BIKE judgement: Maximum score of 10 points. The judgement is not an addition of the individual points but is subjective. Riding behaviour, maintenance effort, range of use and overall impression of the rider are all taken into account.
