The frame of the new Exceed CF from Canyon is said to weigh just 870 grams, which is an incredible 300 gram reduction compared to its predecessor. Nevertheless, the frame is said to offer outstanding stiffness with 103 Nm/°. The record weight of the Canyon Exceed CF was made possible by a consistent surface reduction of eight per cent. This makes the frame less bulky. To make the frame more robust against stone chips, so-called impact spines are used in the down tube. These are designed to ensure a high level of stability even without frame protection.
In addition to Shimano Di2 compatibility (battery disappears into the down tube), the frame has a 30.9 mm seatpost dimension, which would also allow a telescopic seatpost. In the series, however, a particularly high-suspension carbon seatpost is used for more comfort. All cables in the Exceed CF are routed inside the frame. With chainstays shortened to 427 millimetres and a longer front centre, the Canyon Exceed has a modern geometry with a relatively slack 69.5 degree head angle in comparison.
At just 7.88 kilos, the top model is one of the lightest mountain bike hardtails on the market. The price is likely to be around 9,000 euros.
