The new Mondraker Chaser and Prime models as well as the corresponding Urban Cross variants are getting a boost: the new Bosch Performance Line CX mid-motor, which is set to bring a number of improvements. We take a look at the new MTBs and urban cross bikes with Bosch CX power.
The latest version of the Mondraker Chaser comes in three different versions: Chaser, Chaser 750 and Chaser R. The Chaser model is equipped with a removable 625 Wh battery, while the Chaser 750 and Chaser R models each have permanently installed 750 Wh batteries.
The centrepiece of the Mondraker Chaser Fullys is the new, revised Bosch Performance Line CX motor. It is said to be almost 100 grams lighter than its predecessor with the same power and is also significantly quieter. The power balance? A maximum of 600 watts with a torque of 85 Nm.
Lower friction losses inside the motor should make riding above 25 km/h more comfortable. Below this, four adjustable support levels are supported, which are controlled by new software. This software should be able to read the terrain and deliver the right power for an optimal riding experience.
Another new feature of the Bosch CX motor is the starting aid. This works in the same way as the push assist, but also with your foot on the pedal. This should make it easier for less experienced riders to start off on steep terrain. The highlight is the Hill Hold System: this prevents the bike from rolling backwards on steep terrain. By pressing the minus button on the Mini Remote, the motor holds the bike in position until pressure is applied to the pedals and the command is given to set off.
In addition to these advantages, all new Prime and Chaser models are equipped with completely new OnOff components, such as the new stem in the picture above. This is intended to improve performance, comfort and design. The combination of the new Bosch CX motor and the OnOff components aims to optimise the riding experience both on trails and in urban environments.
All three versions of the Chaser are equipped with the new OnOff S3 handlebars and stems as well as the 135 mm OnOff Beehive grips. The Bosch Intuvia 100 display is fitted, along with a Mini Remote and a Bosch System Controller integrated into the top tube. They also feature the Pija Dropper Post on OnOff.
The frame of the new models is made of Stealth Alloy. At the rear, the bike offers a suspension travel of 150 mm, supported by Zero Suspension technology. The so-called Mondraker Forward Geometry ensures balanced riding behaviour. According to Mondraker, the versatile, full-suspension E-MTB is suitable for beginners as well as experienced riders and stands for confident behaviour in different terrains.
The Mondraker Prime hardtail has a removable 625 Wh battery. The Prime R model differs with its permanently installed 750 Wh battery. Other features of the Prime R include a 120 mm RockShox Recon Gold RL suspension fork, a Sram SX Eagle drivetrain and an OnOff Pija dropper post.
In addition to the off-road versions of the Mondraker Prime and Chaser, the Urban Cross models Prime X and Chaser X are also equipped with the latest generation of the Bosch CX motor. These Urban Cross versions combine all the features of their off-road siblings with the requirements of the urban environment. Mudguards, 150 lux lighting and a pannier rack make the Urban Cross models ready for the big city or the daily commute - both on paved roads and off-road.
The Prime X is available in two versions: Prime X and Prime RX. The basic Prime X model is an entry-level option and has a removable 625 Wh battery. The top-of-the-range Prime RX model is equipped with a permanently installed 750 Wh battery. The same applies to the Mondraker Chaser X and top-of-the-range Chaser RX.
Let's take a look at the technical data and features of the new E-MTBs from Mondraker...
